Profile: Jane Wang

Tell us about yourself.

I’m the CEO of Optimity, helping millions live their best life, evangelizing micro-learning and micro-actions for proactive health.

What do you consider as your biggest achievement?

Being able to offer Optimity for free for millions of consumers.

What advice would you give to your 18-year-old self?

Dream big, plan smart, execute methodically, and don’t be afraid of failure.

How do you stay productive and be your best self at work?

Use smart systems and be methodical to channel my passion in productive ways.

What’s your top mental health tip for when the going gets tough?

10 min meditations to help myself focus, visualization to help me see how the big goals can become my new reality, and consistently working with a coach (for work) to help unblock myself from real obstacles and irrational fears.

What are your top health hacks?

Small steps can ignite big changes: make 1 or 2 changes, commit to them, and very quickly it’ll snowball into a self-improvement habit – next thing you know, you’ve already made tens and hundreds of tweaks to your life! Also, it’s ok if you regress or go off-track, don’t waste time judging yourself: just start small again and rebuild your snowball.

How do you ensure your personal and/or family’s financial wellness?

Planning is key. I talk to my partner (husband in this case) and address the fears/procrastination, then execute. It starts small too, and has now become a monthly habit were we try to do something to build for the future and our little one. 🙂

What’s your favorite fun activity?

Playing tennis and volleyball!

Who are your female role models and why?

Whitney Wolfe, CEO of Bumble (shattering all ceilings!); Ann Dieleman, my executive coach (wise and showed me how I can have a great family life and also an amazing career); Michele Romanow, Co-founder of Clearbanc & Dragon on Dragon’s Den (being a bad-ass Canadian entrepreneur that is also putting $ into the ecosystem).
